Machine learning is undoubtedly the biggest buzzword in the industry today. Recently, the term has become much popular among developer and business alike, despite the fact that the research in the domain has been going on for decades.  A subset of Artificial Intelligence, machine learning is about training machines to learn techniques and concepts just like the way humans do. It is, in fact, not something of the far-off future, it’s here today – simplifying and transforming the way we live, travel, work and communicate.

A half-century ago, machine learning was still the matter of science fiction. But today it’s a vital part of our lives, helping us to do almost everything from finding photos, translating speech to driving cars. Without them, there would be no computing “machines,” much less machine learning. From Turing Machine, Arthur Samuel to highly intelligent robots, we have seen rapid growth in the field of machine learning, recent years. Industries that are working with massive amounts of data have realized the significance of machine learning technology. By allowing computers to execute specific tasks intelligently, machine learning systems, rather than following pre-programmed rules, tend to carry out complex processes by learning from data.

Machine learning is extensively used in data analytics as a mode to develop algorithms for making forecasts on data.  Basically, it is connected to statistics, probability and linear algebra.  Without human intervention, organizations can now make better decisions by means of algorithms to build models that unveil connections.

Though machine learning has been around long before, recently it has evolved at a rapid speed to solve real problems of human life and automate various processes used in diverse industries like banking, healthcare, telecom, manufacturing, insurance, retail, and so on. The amount of time and research spent on this field has ensured that machine learning is here to stay, for more years to come.
